The Sixth Georgian Bay

You feel the west wind before you see it — the lean of the lone pine, the water pushed flat across the bay, the smell of it on the air. This is the country the painters couldn't leave alone: bent trees, bare granite, and light that turns gold over open water at the end of the day. Weathered and warm, oatmeal and pine, made for the shore that shaped it. Some places inspire a painting. This one was painted here first.
